Welcome to the Sydenham Mathematics Department

"Mathematics should be fun." -- Peter J. Hilton

Math is fun. We in the Sydenham Mathematics department believe that strongly and we strive to make our students get the same enjoyment that we do out of the topic. As a department we work together to constantly improve our teaching practices, incorporating new and innovative strategies to maximize student engagement and hopefully get the students to realize that math is all around them and can be a lot of fun when properly understood.

Student Support:

At Sydenham, we have a unique setup in our department. The math workroom is a room that is the home of some teachers, but students are also welcome at all times to come in and work and/or receive help from other students or teachers. Our goal is to provide help to all students whenever necessary and students should feel comfortable to come in and visit whenever they like.

We also offer Mathematics competitions for grades 9, 10 and 11 from the University of Waterloo - a prestigious math contest where winners compete against students all over the province for the highest scores.

Should you have any questions at all about our department or how we can best support your son/daughter (or YOU!), please don't hesistate to contact us via phone or email, or just drop in to see us in the Math workroom.
